As we wave goodbye to Harriet Davies, the one who started it all over 25 years ago. We feel at the Castle Quarter that it is important to share a retrospect, and showcase the amazing things they have accomplished in the quarter of a contrary they have been trading as a fiercely independent business.
We dedicate this to you, Harriet. With love from us at the Castle Quarter Arcades.
New York Deli has been a part of the Castle Quarter community for over 25 years. Owner Harriet Davies set up New York Deli in the hopes that she could bring good quality American food to Cardiff City Centre at affordable prices. The success of New York Deli has been immeasurable. Not only have they successfully brought the Hoagie to Cardiff, they have also been real ‘go getter’s’, raising thousands of pounds for charities, and in turn become a consistent contributor to the City Centre.
If you have ever had the pleasure of tackling their legendarily enormous sandwiches, grinders and hoagies, you will know that they only use the best of the best ingredients and produce. New York Deli are also huge supporters of local business, buying only fresh and local ingredients for their in house made fodder.
Their attention to detail is unrivalled and uncompromising when carefully selecting the most authentic American brand names, bringing you a the real McCoy time and time again.
With this in mind it’s no wonder that New York Deli have been awarded countless awards; including “Best Sandwich Bar of the Year” from the Echo, taking home the Yolk “Sandwich World Cup” 2015, as well as consistently receiving “highest honours” awards from both Yelp and Trip Advisor. Not to mention their numerous appearances on Wales Online, Wow 247 and Visit Cardiff for places to eat in Cardiff City Centre.
Although the menu is filled with meaty delights, chocolate and cakes, New York Deli have also bagged themselves the award: “Place to Eat” for vegan and vegetarians for the last several years. Thus making them a good all rounder for any dietary requirements.
Always fresh, always delicious and most importantly, always authentically American.
